and was used in shools during the 70's and 80's? Still used in some supermarkets today. Awful stuff.

Yehr I remember that stuff!!! I only know that it was marketed by Izal as well! We used to pinch it from the school loos to use to trace each others or the textbook drawings for our homework.
If you think that was bad, you should have travelled in Russia in the 60's and 70's!! I don't know about now, but I am sure they used to chew on lumps of cardboard and then roll it up and sell it off as loo paper!

The government, as the use of this "grease proof paper" elevated the sales of soap, washing powder etc, simply because the paper did not remove the poo, it simply spread it elsewhere, usually half way up your back

It was the older people who prefered this stuff??? (IZAL) My neighbour used this stuff!! and at times when we were kids we had to use their toilet ( got me thinking now why did we have to use our neighbours toilet?) I think the question here is :- Old people why use tracing paper to wipe your bottom???

Tell me about it!! it sucks.. cant they use normal toilet paper.. i think they shud put the same price for both toilet papers that way, they may end up buying the better brand like charmin, quilted norther ultra

Oh wow, i remember that so much, it was terrible stuff. I don't know who invented it but i know it was made up mainly of recycled paper, and it was probably really cheap. Good question though !!!

I thought is was more like greaseproof paper! Instead of removing the poo it spread it around I think someone was (and still is) having a laugh!

yeah, seems like as long as you are already making toilet paper, you might as well make it useable, I know what you mean, tho, those seat covers you sit on are softer than that prison paper.
