Give me what you think my reason(s) for saying that and i'll reward you with 10 points. yay. For example, "George Washingtion didn't believe in political parties." or "Jefferson would have been pro-abortion." I'm going to cross my fingers when I plead for intelligent answers. I know, this is the internet, and like reality, there are a lot of *******.

to Newbie: I just thought I'd let you know, there are democrats that are currently serving in Iraq. Though I hate to think I would relegate my self to either party, I lean more to the left than the right. I served in Iraq, what have you done so far to protect your fellow citizens?

Any one of the almost numberless things that Bush The Lesser has done to America would cause our founders to spin like a lathe in their graves.

NOTE TO "Colorado": The Founding Fathers were NOT mostly Christians. They were mostly Deists.

Some quotes from our Founding Fathers:

"The United States is in no sense founded upon the Christian doctrine." - George Washington

"It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." - Thomas Jefferson

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature." - Thomas Jefferson

"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church." - Thomas Paine

"The Bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion. i could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." - Abraham Lincoln

I wouldn't say that our Founding Fathers were just one congealed mass who, like a heard of sheep, all thought about issues in the same way and who all had the same expectations of what government should or should not do. Maybe some of our Founding Fathers would like what's going on in America today and maybe some of them wouldn't. There were, of course, "liberals" and "conservatives" among our Founders, too, you know. Jefferson and Hamilton were polar opposites from one another on many issues.

On the one hand, Hamilton once said (in the Federalist Papers) that the judicial branch of the federal government would always be the "least dangerous to the political rights of the Constitution." Then, over 30 years after he said that, Jefferson wrote a letter to one man, dated some time in September, 1820, saying that federal judges were "the more dangerous as they are in office for life and are not responsible ... to the elective control." Would either Hamilton or Jefferson be turning in the their graves given the behavior of the federal judges -- especially the Supreme Court Justices -- for the last 100 years?

I'm surprised after today the are not rising up from their graves and leading another revolution. The "Patriot Act" and toady's gem "The Terror Trials Bill" have basically reversed the American Revolution and made the Constitution null and void. The very thing that sparked the Revolution has been brought to America and is now part of our laws. All that is left to do is the "Consolidation of Powers Act" and there will be no need for Congress or the Supreme Court.

All Hail George Bush...OR ELSE!!! Achtung Lemmings.

While the founding fathers could never have foresaw many of the advances in technology they were quite prophetic when they wrote the Constitution. The problems comes in whether you subscribe to original intent versus common sense versus living constitution. Two examples come to mind.

Freedom of speech - In original intent the freedom to protest by saying unpopular things was important to the founders and they were trying to allow for dissent without prosecution. Common sense also says you should not yell fire in a crowded theater as a joke, while the living Constitution says it is okay to tell first graders to have sex with the teacher. Which is freedom of speech?
On the freedom of religion front, the founders were primarily Christians who valued Christianity's traditions and worship. They were concerned coming from England that to have a official state religion such as the Church of England would set up a situation where the Catholics might be banned or the Quakers so they said the Country needs to have the ability to worship as you chose without interference from the government and that the government should not establish a country wide religion. Under original intent this would mean that as long as the congress did not establish any particular religion as the official religion than things were great. Under common sense, the placing of a Christmas Tree on the front lawn of a town hall would not establish a state religion but simply acknowledge that this is a Christian nation and that people enjoy Christmas decorations. Under a living Constitution the government should be hell bent on stamping out any vestige of religious life in public. Which is Freedom of religion?

So, would the founding fathers be turning in their graves? You bet.

Congress is making torture legal. Congress is spending Billions on a war we can't win. Congress is running record deficits, while cutting services to the young, old, and ill. Congress is giving subsidies to Energy Companies , who are already making record profits. Congress is not putting crooks in jail.

Our founding fathers are probably flipping in their graves over the state of THIS union. With out of control taxation, rampant frivolous lawsuits, massive political ineffiency not to mention the virtual rape of the American taxpayer, they would not be proud of the America they envisioned.

awesome holes gave us a good start for the limited resources they had .
you should visit those places that carry their history .
they had allot to offer . consider how lucky we are from what they had .
speculation of who's turning is degrading .they're more likely peering out wishing for the best for every one.
they knew the score then . what they believed was freedom .not opinions of freedom.
