It all depends... but what it boils down to is resources. Rome expanded because it wanted/needed more resources to fuel its Republic and then empire. Spain colonized the Americas for the same reason except they wanted rich metals to be specific. The mongol empire spread throughout Asia an Europe for the same thing. Even native americans fought wars for resources.

Countries/Empires/tribes need resources to grow and prosper and thus have to get them from somewhere... normally they belong to someone else. So an excuse is formed (religious/ideological/threat) for the public to be able to digest the war and thus support it.

Look at all wars with this in mind and you will see a pattern.... Resources.

Because political leaders are MORONS, that are EXACTLY like children who are fighting over a toy. People can usually get along with one another, but when you throw a politician into the mix, that is when every thing starts to go downhill.

I think it's because of different opinions-lack of agreement on a subject. As a result enmity arises due to the different parties' persistence in keeping their opinion(s)for example the separate views held by kinds of religion.(muslims, christians etc.)

Greed. Hate. In my opinion, it's a pretty uncivilized act. I'm very much against killing, I just don't believe in it. It's kind of inhumane, you know? I guess it just makes me sad that people would do that to eachother.

There is no reason. It is pointless. But if you want excuses, the usual ones are: land, money, power.
