Is it normal to get hot flashes while you are pregnant?

I will wear layers of clothing and strip down (not literally, hahah) when I get hot, but it happens constantly. And it's been so cold out lately, I couldn't even imagine dealing with it in the summer.

I am glad someone else asked this cause I thought it was just me. I am hot alot of the time and it's not really hot out at all. The weather is cooling off now (where I live) and I get up in the morning and have to sit on my porch in the cool air to get comfortable. I am driving my husband crazy with it! Good luck to all you ladies who have the same thing going on!

yeah but for me in all my pregnancies it happened in the weeks 4 to 10 then went away came back 27 weeks till birth the last weeks are the worst your big heavy hot and tired SO GLAD THIS BABY is due in December I'd never make it full term in the hot summer heat. The 1st trimester hot flashes are not are bad as the 3rd trimester ones!

Yes, totally. We didn't have an air conditioner while I was pregnant, and I had my last two in September, so, I was a big as a house throughout the summer months. My husband would come home from work and find me laying in the basement ... nekkid, under the vents that blew a small amount of cool air.... LMAO ... I know, not a pretty sight!! Congrats!!

They're not hot flashes, but a result of pregnancy hormones. I went through it twice, being in my 3rd trimester in the heat of the summer both times! The first time, it had to be the hottest summer on record! Make sure your husband has plenty of blankets--you'll probably want to sleep with the window open.

Oh yes. Like it wasnt hot enough before I got pregnant.. My AC had to be farther down every night. My poor husband froze for 9 months. Thank god my aunt had electricity after Hurricane Katrina or I would have been out of state just to get away from the heat.

Yes!!!! It's totally normal! It's from hormones and your blood. Your blood volume is way higher when you are pregnant and that makes you hotter too. And you are right! My babies were born in Aug. Oct. and Dec. so I was miserably hot and pregnant through the summer 3 times!!!! If I could have sat in the fridge, I would have!!!

It is 100% normal to get hot flushes as your body is producing a lot more blood and your heart is pumping more around. Eventually you get used to it. It is also what I think gives pregnant women that glow everyone talks about.

Hahahaha! How cute are you? Yep, I did the old layer shed and shiver on and off during mine too! Recently, my friend had told me that her episodes were so severe, that she talked to her doctor about it...and that he had given her some kind of hormonal supplement? But, I'm not sure what that was. It is an idea to bounce off the OBGYN though.
Congratulations to you Mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
