What a fun question ! Never thought of it that way. I have done so many times, and have also been asked many times. Each and everytime I have asked someone to do so.. they have always done so cheerfully. Likewise, I have done the same. I wonder why nobody ever says no ? I assume it shows that people are really just really good inside :) Bravo for your question, most original and made me smile !

I don't have kids but I ask strangers to take pics of me and my girlfriend on vacation all the time. Advice though, ask OLD people. Young people tend to run off with your new digital camera while giving you the finger. Or ask a couple to do it. The girl takes the picture while the guy stands off to the side and looks pissed off for a while.

We don't take pictures through strangers. I'm always the cameraman... I never wanted any of my pictures in there that may entail future security risks when I come back and have other things to do except vacation.

We go on lots of trips, and take lots of pictures, so I use a tripod.
No need to ask a stranger to take our picture.

If you want everyone in the picture, you have to ask a stranger and its nothing wrong with that.

I ask strangers to take our pictures all the time. And once they have my digicam in their hands, I always say a silent prayer ... "please don't run off with my camera ..."

yeah you're right.....well one way or another it's somekind of a teaching to the children to be careful to people around, strangers.
they'll eventually learn how to see the bad and the good through growing up....aren't we all?
