My favorite is Tipping the Velvet.

But I just finished watching My Summer of Love and I thought that was good too.

"Personal Best" is a Classic!

Better Than Chocolate
When Night Is Falling
Fire
Show Me Love (I admired the actress who playd the lesbian teen in this!)
Fingersmith
Chutney Popcorn
Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit
The Incredible True Adventures of Two Girls In Love
If These Walls Could Talk 2
Boys on the Side (Whoopi burns for her friend, and it has the Indigo Girls performing in it!)
Kissing Jessica Stein
Salmonberries (k.d. lang in the nude!)
Desert Hearts
But I'm a Cheerleader
Chasing Amy (c'mon - the explanation she gives on the swings...woohoo!)
The Truth About Jane (great coming-out-as-a-teen story. Has the girl form "Dead Like Me" in it.)
Aimee & Jaguar
The Margarethe Camermeyer Story (true story of army leasbian)

Sex Monster (ok...after Personal Best, this is Muriel Hemingway's SECOND lesbian role....thoughts on this, anyone?)

Ones I'm not personally as fond of:
Bar Girls, Gia, Bound, Wild Things, Go Fish ... ("The girl Is out there!"), Claire of the Moon

And with lesbian undertones:
The Colour Purple
Thelma and Louise

FYI: Speilberg took the 'lesbian' out of Colour Purple - Celie and her 'friend' are lovers in the book.

Gertrude and Alice
Orlando
Fire
many more...

if you lived in Vancouver in the 90's you would HATE Better than Chocolate because she messes with herstory in an annoying way, also too many stereotypes...

Oh - about Claire of the Moon - I went and saw it when it premiered and I laughed all the way through because it is SOOOOOOO BAD!!!! We had to leavet he theatre or never be able to show our faces again in lesbian public. watch it when you need to be bored and horrified at the worst lesbian script for a movie EVER...

Better than Chocolate!!

Totally awesome movie! Funny, great tunes, good storyline.

If you like really avante garde, indy stuff, I would also suggest "Go Fish." It's all done in black and white and the dialog is a bit choppy, but it's still a decent flick. ...it was also Guinevere Turner's first attempt at screen writting.
Here, check it out: http://imdb.com/title/tt0109913/

other favs:

But I'm a Cheerleader! (Hillarious Charles Bush production!)

Boys on the side (Not specifically a lesbian flick, but Whoopie plays a believable and endearing one)

The Incredibly True Adventures of 2 Girls in Love

Chutney Popcorn

the gymnast. I watched only segments of it at a gay and lesbian fil festival it my hometown. It is glorious witty and theres a plot in the movie to follow unlike lesbian films that go straight to sex
