Honesty is the best policy, Maybe writing down your words in a clear thoughtful way would help you say what needs to be said without emotions getting in the way

If you talk to him in person, just go up to him, look him square in the eyes and say "I have moved on and you need to just go. I am beyond you and have found someone who respects me." Then just turn around and leave without giving him time to respond. You can also do this on the telephone, but sometimes it isn't as much fun.

Just say look I din't think this relationship is good for either of us , and I come to relize that . So i chose to move on , I think you should do the same .

Be direct, but "gentle".
Say something like "Look, Spook, it was a fun ride, and you'll always have a special place in my heart, but I'm rollin' with someone else now."
