I signed up a year ago to be notified via e-mail whenever Verizon got around to bringin DSL to my neighborhood. The end of the network is only half a mile away.

My problem is that I can't get through to a human being by phone to find out WHEN this might be happening.

Our cable provider really sucks and is too expensive. But dialup is ridiculously slow.

Does anyone have a phone number to reach someone in DSL at Verizon--other than the 800 number(s) in the DSL ads? I've tried those and every time, the recorded message says to call back because they're too busy. There's no option to wait for an agent.

Thanks for any advice or info someone might have.

This is going to be out of Your Area, and, in Fact it's out of My Area. I had to Drive 70 Miles to Speak to the People at Verizon that would Help Me. I've got a Verizon V-620 Air Card for Internet Service. The 800 Numbers were of very little help. So, I went to this Verizon Store, where I don't even have an Account. They Resolved the Problem, and didn't Charge Me a Cent ! Had I known then what I know now, I could have just Called them to get the Problem Resolved. This is the Verizon Store at the Crossroads Shopping Center in Cary, North Carolina.Contact Mr. Clarence Green at 1-919-859-6700 and if He can't Help You, He will Personally find Someone that will . Hope This Helps.

Many times Telephone companies don't know because they have to evaluate the Central Office facilities for upgrades and then run fiber to it for the Internet portal. It will be next to impossible to get a live person that can get you an actual answer. It is just business reality. Unfortunately, you are stuck. Once it is available, trust me, you will get mail, email and ad blitzes. DSL just became available to me -- I waited over a year. In the meantime, relax and find something better to do with your time and check with your local cable company they might have high speed connections.
