I hear that when Dylan was around his peak period, he was using speed as a performance enhancer and songwriting drug. Is this true?

When exactly would his "peak period" be? It's not disputed that Bob Dylan, did take drugs, including "hard drugs," but I don't think anyone really knows to what extent.

Dylan has said that he's never really been into drugs, its a common held fact he introduced the Beatles to pot, (they were already taking other drugs at the time). Another thing that makes me wonder if he actually took hard drugs habitually is that at 65 he doesn't look like someone who took hard drugs often. Usually by that age, the drugs catch up to you and its obvious that someone did or didn't take hard drugs.

I never heard that but I guess its possible. A lot of people in the music biz used drugs of many kinds in the 1960's--bulletin!
