She's asking this question on Yahoo Answers, about how we can uplift the self-esteem of girls in the world. But then she goes and hosts a show like America's Next Top Model. It really brings MY self-esteem down to watch that and listen to all the expectations that pretty girls should live up to. What do you think?

Tyra is thinking of getting a huge female following that look up to her as a auntie/role model/worshipped one, and then laughing all the way to the banks...no pun intended.

The girl has to make money and her biggest assets are her modeling experience and her fame.

Plus, she is one of the "beautiful" people and thinks that all women can do as well as she can if they just work hard enough. She is just beginning to break out of that world and discovering that the real world isn't full of potential models.

She is still new to reality and is trying pretty hard to join it, so you have to give her some credit. She has started her own talk show and proved that her breasts were real, but trying to compete with people like Ellen and Oprah are very tough battles, so she falls back on what she knows which is modeling.

I guess she wants women to be this super confident and independent b!tches. Is that a waste of time or what? There's no such thing as independent people. We all depend on someone or something to survive. And I found more than 2700 questions about self-esteem. Couldn't she just read those?? XD

It's so true. Shows like America's Next Top Model support society's view of what women should look like and how they should dress. And to wear make up. I'm a guy, so I don't know what it's like to be a woman. But it must be difficult to put up with the pressure society puts on women to look how they do on shows like ANTM, and in magazines. How will women "over-come their insecurities" when TV and media, and society expect you to be all perfect. Everyone wants to feel beautiful. Guys too. But women especially. Women as individuals should decide what makes them feel beautiful, instead of trying to live up to society's high standards of how women should look. I agree with you Sam. What was she thinking?

Ah, the hypocrisy.....such is common in Hollywood. And in Washington, D.C. for that matter. I like the way Brother Ali puts it: "**** the magazines, these is God's fingerprints!" What we really need to do is stop buying trash magazines. I remember reading one of my ex-gf's magazines that showed a picture of a model, and it said something to the effect that there's something wrong with you if you look at her and don't have thoughts of suicide. This was probably read by a number of teenage girls. It completely disgusted me.

Tell her that. She needs to hear it. We have thousands of anorexic little girls because of shows like hers.
