No, don't listen to these people!!! If a woman wears black to a wedding (unless specifically asked to wear black by the hosts), it symbolizes that she does not approve of the marriage (hence she is treating it like a funeral). Etiquette hasn't gone away, people just ignore it now!

It is not really appropriate. Black is acceptable to wear to an evening wedding/reception, but shouldnt be worn to a daytime wedding. Alot of people still get upset at others wearing black to a wedding even in the evening. You are just all around better off picking a different colored dress.

Absolutely! It is a late afternoon wedding that will go well into the evening .... go for it. I would suggest dressing it up with long, shiny earrings and a simple purse. You will not need anything more than that. ALSO - wear sheer black nylons and black pumps! Have a great time.

I recently went to a 3:00 wedding and there were tons of people wearing black. as long as you wear nice jewelery and you don't look like your going to a funeral there is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing black.

I wouldn't, but if you do want to wear it you could wear a jacket, scarf or belt or accessories that are not black so that your overall look isn't too somber. Solid black with black accessories would be a little too Soap Opera ex-girlfriend -- all you would need is dramatic make-up and dark sunglasses!

Black is very sophisticated for an evening out, but not a wedding thats just too much, you can wear grey its not so intense and its very versatile.
