Why is it that everytime a woman comes onto this board and states a positive opinion about women she is immediately called a man-hating-Neo-femme-Nazi? Can you people not see how ridiculous that is? I was reading a post where someone said why do we have all these classes at Uni where only different groups are studied. The person deemed this as unnescessary. Um, HELLO! Wake up! The reason these classes were instituted is because these are marginalized groups which are rarely mentioned in history and day to day life except in the negative. A few years ago women were finally receiving a slightly better image which was quickly dashed by the actions of public figures whom society has unfortunately chosen to represent the average woman. Many people state that they do not buy into the media portrayal of women but the answers on this site demonstrate the exact opposite. I want someone to give me a clear reason as to why people are so eager to continue the marginalization of women?

Lady, as a woman, I understand. Remember though, just like the good men finish last, so do the good women. The feminists we see on TV ARE often praising women and undermining men. You can't blame society for receiving the impression given to them.

I don't think you're a "man-hating-Neo-femme-Nazi". I deeply suspect that you have fallen under the sway of identity-politics at your university.

The books, the professors, the make-believe causes all exist to give job security to an academic minority who want to justify themselves by destroying American institutions, such as the concept of Western Civilization, the family, motherhood, etc. by pointing out imaginary boogeymen like "white male hegemony".

It's nonsense. You're smarter than that and you deserve better. It's time for Betty Friedan's crowd to retire.

I know these things because I took the classes. I wrote the papers. I read the books. I talked to the professors.

Here's your lexicon:
-marginalized groups
-rarely mentioned in history
-image portrayal
-media portrayal

You can use these terms to describe anyone or anything. "Left-handed people are marginalized by the media" for example. "Tambourine players are rarely mentioned in history".

Don't buy into identity-politics. Don't let someone else tell you how you're "portrayed" or "thought of". Men and women are different, and that is good. Men are not women, and women are not men. Women have all the rights and privileges that men do.

It's a rush to have a cause to believe in; but don't believe the hype. There are better causes out there than entertaining some hackneyed yarn like "women are marginalized".

In the words of Shakespeare, Me thinks she doth protest to much....

First of all, open your mind. The problem with college, is you spend two much time memorizing and regurgitating something a professor wants to hear.

It is very easy to get into a mind set that doesn't conform to the facts.

In reality, women have a lot of advantages, that men don't. Here is an example. A man is pretty much identified by what he dose for a living. He is expected to get a job, and start a career of some type. To support his family.

(Note: in today's society, a single person over 35, who isn't married, or divorced, or isn't paying some sort of child support, is really looked upon as strange.)

If a man is asked "What do you do for a living?" and his response is "I'm a stay at home Dad." Most people will do a double take on that statement. Most people will think, if not say, "What is wrong with you." "Why do you make your wife work?", or worse, they think that he is some sort of pervert. (I do know a couple were the husband is a stay at home Dad. Both of them are well educated, and both are capable of supporting themselves on either ones income. She's an MD, and likes to work. He is a nuclear physicist, and loves to stay home, and home school his kids.)

I hate that because I am a lesbian and yes I am a feminist that I am automatically considered a man hater. What people don't realize is that I have many straight and gay male friends so how is that me being a man hater? I hate the cocky bigots who think that their "massive" package will suddenly cause a lesbian to "turn" straight, but, there are also some decent males out there who I can stand.

What are you? A man-hating-Neo-femme-Nazi? Huh! :))

It just takes a while to erase all the prejudices. Just look around in the most debated categories and you'll see it's the same with different races and religions.

There are women who state positive opinion about women or feminine qualities that are not labeled that. Maybe its the way some gestures or states it. That appears they're man-hating or something else negative. You know gestures can be mistaken.
