Moot points are those that are worthy of discussion or debate but are no longer practically applicable. People continue to discuss moot subjects/issues because they can sometimes be relevant to present practical situations. Also debating the point, in an acedamic perspective, can be very worthwhile as it allows for the development of presenting a logical argument.
An example of a moot point is as follows:
"Until we rebuild downtown, whether we build more parking spaces or not is a moot point"

A subject may be moot yet worthy of discussion, if just for the possibility that a similar situation might occur in the future.

I believe the same..Whenever I mention that a topic is "moot",it's my way of letting the person I'm talking to know not to take it too seriously or personal.

That "Friends" episode where Joey thinks that a point is "moo," not moot. The others tell him, "No, the point is moot! What does 'The point is moo' mean?" And Joey says, "Well, cows don't really talk, so if a point is 'moo,' you just don't talk about it anymore."
Bwa hahahahahaha! I loved that episode! Anyway, so Friends is no longer on... and it's time for me to go to bed.. so I guess whatever point I was making is moo... er, moot. ;-)

I think I just said that because of modern politics, the Constitutional Separation of Powers has become moot.
Should we just leave it at that????

When Einstein, Bell, Franklin, and all the other inventors were telling people their ideas, do you think anybody was interested then. Most of the time, people just do not understand relevance or importance. People today don't know how to be very serious. Our society is losing themselves.

Seems like everyone wants to be right and virtuous and can't shut up even if there is no point.
