because you over spent your money,
and I'm sure that gift doesn't even make up for it ...
Gifts are ... incentives, make customers focus on something other than calculating the value or worthiness of what they are about to purchase ...
Or use their time to do some work .. answer survey .. etc. and save some worker's payment instead,
that's one way to increase revenue
