This question is NOT about the upcoming election! It is about the past 200 years or so and where the world is headed now. There were not many differences between pre-WWII Gernamy and the Soviet Union nor are there between the Dems and the GOP. The outcome of the elections will have little effect on this battle...

Interesting point, this has the award for the best question of the day. I understand fully that the distribution of wealth has shifted to the very wealthy, unfortunately it will be a war between the many and the few enabled. The rich hold all the marbles, and the crayons. The many can still win but the tactics are going to have to be drastic. We need to vote, vote till it hurts, throw the rich out of the government, and return to the constitution where all men are created equal.

I believe you mean Socialist Liberal Democrats. Do you really know the definition of fascism? Let me help you. "a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism". First of all the president is NOT a dictator, you will have a chance to vote for someone else this Nov. and you get a chance to elect a new president in just over 2 years. Last I checked a dictators don't hold elections that they can lose. Second there is no suppression of opposition and criticism, otherwise you would have had a knock at your door already. You, however, are free to spew your bs anywhere you want. There is no regimenting of industry, commerce, etc. unless you want to include the EPA. There are no groups forcing nationalism and it always seems to me that the libs are the racist ones.

I only wish the Dems would announce how they will handle the situation. How can people make an intelligent choice when one side does not say how they will fix the wrongs that have taken place. As a Democrat who is more than willing to vote for the best person for the job, I want to know what their solutions are. So far its been pretty much of a grey area.

First off, there is no difference between the two. The things that made a rep a rep, and a dem a dem are now infused into both. Theres only a few people clinging to the old ideals, and they're not in power. The title is the only thing differing them now, and no matter who gets in office, the corrupt channels one must traverse to get there guarantee corruption at different levels. Stop fighting over which party gets in, and start deciding which people get in because its the person that matters, not their affiliation.

This is an interesting premise.. but only half right.

First off, I will agree that this may be the most important election in America's history. Never before has so much ridden on an electoral cycle- our freedom and the very ideas of american values are at stake.

However, (unfortunately) the "left" in this country is a long way from communist russia. Democrats are very conservative in any relative term. The right, however, is very very right. Facsist is very close to accurate to describe the Bush administration. There is much at stake...

I am much more worried about the "cultural war" brewing in America: abortion, gay rights, the slice of swiss cheese separating church and state (and, increasingly, the separation of law from morality). I don't think this country is on the verge of any kind of war over economics and I think this "Proletariat against the Bourgeoisie," thing is dead. This is not going to be history repeating itself. It's the cultural war that's much more imminent.

Since the last 2 elections, and the outcome of both 2000 and 2004, I think everyone who is a citizen and allowed to vote should attend a political class for at least one hour, pass the test afterward. I hate to say it, but this country is in a world of hurt by the republican's last 6 years---seem's like 20!

You just don't get it, do you?

Everyone thinks there really is a difference, but when it comes to actions, what difference is there?

The Dems have started almost all wars in the history of the US. Well, except for Abe Lincoln with the Civil War...

They all want the jobs with the power and salaries, and they will argue how different they are. But when was the last time you saw the different parties actually do anything different? Think about that for awhile...

This is a great question? I know there are far to many who do not. It is so sad to see people take a side for status sake. This has been my greatest frustration at election time.
