I am 25, is a bachelor's required? What attributes are important and what steps should be taken to obtain the opportunity? Thanks!

No degree required. To be in a film AND having a speaking role, you need a SAG card (Screen Actor's Guild) This is a requirement. Also, you have to have an agent for either a film or commercial work. Also, you probably need to live in Los Angeles or New York. It's very difficult to get work outside of those cities. You also need headshots, reel of previous work and it doesn't hurt to take a class or two. Then, after all of that, percerverance, talent and luck. It's a TOUGH TOUGH business.
