She can't. It can't be done. Women try to raise little boys like they are little girls. It does not work.
I am sorry, but that is the truth.

She can still raise a nice kid or a gentleman, because she's raising a kid alone, doesn't mean her son will inheret everything including her point of view. Her son has his own mind, he can be influence by the mother but he can't get everthing. There are also some people or other relative he can talk every now and then so don't worry too much. I as a single mom of an 8 yrs old son i'm exerting extra effort to let him know not only my values but i really let him think or explore everything whicj i think can help him face life in the future, i don't let him follow me all the time, i let him think what is best and what he really wants. If i find him wrong, i tell him what to do next,. It's just a matter of suporting & understanding him emotionally.

So why should he only get the woman's point of view? Won't there be other people in his life? At school, church or synagogue, etc.? The main thing he will need to be a gentleman is the ability to respect other people. If he is brought up in an environment where his parent gives and receives respect, then he will become a gentleman.

Well if the jerk off man hadn't run out on the mother or was a decent father and partner a woman wouldn't have to raise kids alone, weather they are a boy or a girl!

A son can learn the etiquette of gentlemanly behaviour from anyone with proper manners. What he cannot learn from living with women is when he must put aside his manners and act like a man. When to turn the other cheek and when to defend what is dear to him. For these things, a boy needs a man in his life.

This young man has a bird eye's view of the woman's world that can actually give him an advantage when looking at women as he gets older. Before reaching for a cliche' "man thing" response to a situation, your parenting can provide a filter for him to make a more well-rounded decision. It may seem farfetched and having a man does make a difference, but you can do a good job on your son and make an impact on him, too. Don't sell yourself short. Just pray that he'll use what he learns about women for good.

get him involved with something like big brothers. Or possibly sports. This will give him guidance in being a man. He will automatically become a gentleman unless he is showed how NOT to be. So don't let him see anyone treat you in an ungentleman like manner.

I agree with Cathy N. The boy will know how to treat women! Sometimes it's better to have no male influence around, rather than a negative one. But I think you should try to have positive male role models in his life (ie: an uncle perhaps?).

let him spend alot of time with an uncle or grand father. if that isn't a possibility contact his friends father and see if you can't pay for your son his friend and his friends dad to go fishing or just some sort of male bonding with a parental figure in some way

Take him to church if your religious. The bible paints a great picture of what a man should be. Just don't misinterpret it. Or sign him up for Big Brother programs.
