I would go with the East nowadays. Speedier, younger teams with a greater chance for rebuilding processes. Carolina, NJ, and Pittsburgh to name a few. West has grittier hard nosed teams that would have been useful 3 or 4 years ago.

Eastern

that's confusing to assert which convention has extra perfect scoring. typically talking, that's the west, even with the actuality that the Southeast branch is scorers' heaven (or is it because no one in that branch performs any protection??). As for extra perfect battling, the perfect fights are in the east. fairly some that has to do with lengthy-time rivalries. (Rangers/Flyers, Bruins/Habs, Caps with the full Atlantic branch even even with the actuality that they are out of that crew, Rangers/Islanders, Devils/Flyers, and so on.) Sorry, yet I do in simple terms not see the mythical battling historic previous between the celebs and Coyotes or the Wild and Canucks. With fan help, there are communities in both conferences who continually promote out (Maple Leafs, Rangers, Wild, red Wings) and communities in both conferences who won't be able to draw flies (New Jersey, Florida, Phoenix, Chicago--even with the actuality that they used to have an exceedingly good fan base). so some distance as common hockey is in touch, the West is the right-heavy convention even as the East is a lot extra balanced. Even the "poor" communities in the East (Washington, Florida) are respectable compared to the Blues, Coyotes, Oilers, and Kings on the bottom of the West. even with the indisputable fact that the in elementary words crew from the East this twelve months who might want to be suggested interior a similar breath because the right 5 from the West is Buffalo. The Thrashers are #3 seed in the East this twelve months; they would not even MAKE the playoffs in the journey that they performed in the West. or maybe the Devils (#2) aren't any further almost as good as Anaheim, Detroit, Vancouver, Minnesota, San Jose, Dallas, or Nashville. And Ottawa, Pittsburgh, the Rangers, Montreal, and Tampa Bay? followers of those communities could in simple terms be satisfied that someone from the East has to make the Stanley Cup Finals, meaning they have a shot to get there in the journey that they get warm.

It depends on what kind of hockey you like. If you like the skilled player you have to go with the eastern conference. If you like the more physical game then you have to go with the western conference.

Who? What is up on Yahoo! Answers with people who get who and what confused all the time?

Obviously, W-L the West is better overall head to head vs. the East. Look it up over the past few years. Problem is the West being better balanced means some flukey team with a hot goalie now can roll into the Final where it meets a much better Eastern squad as the East is not as solid 1 thru 8.

That would depend of what kind of hockey you like. The eastern conference is more of a checking brand of hockey based on defence. The western conference is more of a open kind of hockey based on offence. But remember this a good defence and a hot goalie will win you the cup.

They are both pretty even...they both have some great teams but they both also have some not so good ones. Overall though I think the Western Conference is better. Especailly with some of the move in the offseason.

The western conference is said to be more competitive. There's an all-star game this year. You can watch the skills competition and the match.
