There's no (preventive) plan for the un-imaginable.

Our schools in my town are still pretty lax about letting people on campus. Though it is a small school and most of the teachers and aides know the parents. It's a sad thing that so many of our freedoms are lost due to all these horrible things that are happening. But the safety of the kids is paramount, so if it must be that we have to go overboard and act paranoid to ensure they are completely safe, then that's what we have to do.

It's very sad - these kids are forced to go there and they can't be kept safe. Of course, security is an illusion, I guess.

We homeschool and so I feel a little safer, but most people can't homeschool and it's horrible that they have to send their kids off with these worries.

I think we are seeing the result of years of raising kids in day care - too many people with no real attachment to other humans. That's what science predicts will happen to kids with multiple caregivers, and that's certainly what we're getting.

I was listening to local talk radio today and they said that that school was designed after Columbine by enginneers specifically to minimize the threat of a shooter. And while the lose of the 1 student is still tragic it could have been much worse. So the new design saved lives.

Short of making the schools like jails, we can only learn and move forward. It's sad to say, but a lot of it's going to be up to the kids to protect themselves. They have to understand to report people like this nut case when they see him wandering around the halls. Not saying that would have stopped it this time, but we'll never know.

I work at a local elemetary school, they lock the doors and it takes an act of congress to get inside, now I appreciate it! The parent has to call first and fill out paperwork to see their child!

This is not the sixth time this has happened!!

*I* Believe we should RETURN corporal punishment to the schools! *Apply* the board of education to the seat of learning!!!!

ALSO RETURN prayer in schools!!

Hello? DUH!! *Before* these were taken out of the schools, there were NO school killings!

Children *need* to Know the consequences of their actions, and *without* a sting on their backside, OBVIOUSLY THEY'RE NOT LEARNING!! Likewise, *without* prayer, they're not held *responsible*!!

Home-school your children. Between the pedophile teachers and the violence, don't take a chance with your children.
