how many children you have is up to the person who is having them. 1 or 2 children may be enough for one person to handle and support ,5 or 6 could be fine for the next. depends on the person and their beliefs. just look at the duggars who have 16 kids and i have never seen a more loving family.

25 is too many or maybe not.
It depends on the temperament of the parents and of the children.
If your family tends to be very intense emotionally, Less might be more.
I know a family with 12 children. The older ones help with the younger ones. Also, you don't have to be remaking the rules for each child. You start with the first one and then the second one and they all grow up knowing what is expected of them.
When a couple only has one or two children, they have the hardest part of raising children done and then they stop. I wish I had more, except for the fact that I didn't know what to do with the two that I had.
So somewhere between, "I haven't got a clue on how to raise children to become responsible people, to, wow they're already grown and they turned out really nice. I should have had more."
Have enough to make it worth all of the sacrifice and more.
You'll be so glad that you have them.
God Bless You, ;-)

I think a case can be made that Americans should not have more than 2 children. We are the most wasteful consumers on the planet, and the biggest consumers on this planet. If we limit our births, it can help save the planet.
In addition, how much good attention can parents give lots of kids? If a baby needs 15 minutes of every hour awake in direct, reciperocal interaction with mom, and this need for interaction and teaching only expands from there, and as babies are best off when nursed for at least two years, according to the world health organization, it would really be hard to give more than two kids over 10 years time the attention they need to properly develop.
Of course, all kinds of people have lots more kids than that and some do a fine job. Some people with few kids do a lousy job. On average, however, as research shows the larger the family the lower the IQ of the kids, there is a bad effect from too many kids, too few quality interactions of sufficient quantity with parents.
So, for reasons of the health of the planet, the health of the kids, and the health of society, I'd say two is the optimal number of kids to have.

If you can't care for or support your children. For some people one is too many. Others may be able to handle 2 dozen. I'm not sure about inability to afford your children's handicap or illness, if that should count as too many. I have a friend whose son racked up millions of dollars of medical and special education bills. The vast majority was paid by insurance and government. In her case, it was her last child but if it had been her first, I don't know if it woyuld have been wrong for her to have another.

Society used to say have enough kids to help on the farm ... have 16.. iT used to be a sin not to finish the job so there is 12more I think that society and cultural norms are helping us say more than 4 is too many. I dont know how those Duggers with 16.. deal with things but I am trying to be nice. BUT I think that money ( your own .. not my taxes) are a deciding factor... PLUS the amount of zanax I have left.. But 4 is too many . 16 is basically kids raising kids. once you get past 4 its every kid for themsleves.

I think too many children should be based on how well you can take care of them financially, emotionally, and physically. If you have so many kids that you can't pay attention to each one, then you have too many...it's different for everyone!

one is even considered too many if u cannot provide and suport the child. the quantity of children is equally dependent on the amount of income generated by the parents.
if u can support them all the way to college and give them proper living, then by all means, go forth and multiply.

I guess it depends on how many you think you can take care of emotionally, physically, and financially! Children need alot of care! I think it's sad when people keep having kids and can't take care of them!
