Welcome the the "New World Order". This administration has pushed society back to the 50's when the government told you what you needed to know, what they wanted you to do, and not to question authority. Not to mention the "Hoover" like information gathering of individuals around the country. Government has made everyone else responsible for their bad decisions and thievery while we all be good little citizens. You dare speak up and you too can disappear into obscurity.

I think you have been given the wrong information by the DSS.
All you are doing is renting out your house and as long as the rent is paid and the house is OK that is as far as your obligations go.
As you do not live in the property you have no idea what your tenant is doing and in law are not responsible for what your tenant does or not does.
What they are saying really is that if you know they are doing something that they should not then you have a duty to report it the same as everyone else.
I would not worry too much and like I say if you do not know how can you report it.

I don't see any reason why, as landlord, you should know if the tenant is working or cohabiting. In fact that seems an unreasonable intrusion into your tenant's privacy.

I rent. My view is that provided I pay the rent what I do in my property, and what I do for a living, is none of my landlord's business. Fortunately I get no trouble at all from my current landlord.

As the people in power (the ruling elite) make things harsher and harsher for the rest of us, they will take any measure to ensure they remain in power. Spying, cameras, fear, play one group against one another and make sure you can not harm them. Many courthouses are now installing bullet proof glass, the capital is like a armed fortress and if people "think" you are a problem, the police will arrest you.

We are in a police state now. You will know no freedom, as you know no privacy now. You are presumed guilty and you will slave away for peanuts. It is here, get your eyes off the TV and look around.

This type of thing is becoming quite a problem in this country. Even the banks double as immigration departments. Always asking for your passport and asking where you got your money from. We need a government that will free the people or there will be one hell of a revolt soon!

I find this hard to believe,
Does the DSS threaten the local council like this?

Write to the Echo, this must be wrong.

Are you renting it to someone for whom the DSS is paying the bills? I believe that if you are.. that is one of the criteria for receiving those payments.

I believe in Nazi Germany they had a system where 'blockwarts' reported on their neighbours to the Gestapo. I think whilst of course we are not there yet we are increasingly being encouraged to 'shop' our neighbours to the local authority, taxman etc.

The public is supporting people receiving soc. sec. payments. We have a right to know if they are abusing the right to get that money. Why should we pay for people who are perfectly capable of supporting themselves. Does the government give you money for no reason? Do you get it now?
