Interdependence Of Organisms

1. An interdependent relationship is either mutualism (both animals benefit), commensalism (one benefits, but other is not harmed), or parasitism (one animal benefits, the other is harmed). So one example of mutualism, for example, would be a clown fish living in a sea anemone. The clown fish gets protection, but the sea anemone also gets any extra food lured in. 2. A population evolves when certain traits that will increase the species' fitness are passed on to the members to where eventually it becomes different, or better, if that all makes sense. So the adaptation must be inheritable so that it can be passed on to further generations. For example, if the trees in a savannah are getting higher and so only the giraffes with longer necks are being able to eat, the giraffes with shorter necks will eventually die so that the species' fitness is increased in the form of longer necks to reach the food. But, the trait for longer necks must be inherited and passed on, you see? 3. Yes, they must. Here is the acronym that my teacher taught me to remember the taxonomy stuff and I have never forgotten it! "King Peter Came Over For Great Sex" ----> Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and then Species. Domain isn't in that acronym, but it does come before kingdom. The specific order is Life thennn Doman thennn Kingdom, Phylum, etc. So if they have the same Kingdom, they are both under the same Domain. It keeps getting more specific.

Organisms can be interdependent if you have simultaneous organisms. Otherwise, they are independent.

There is a fish called the pilot fish who attaches itself under a shark and appears to guide the shark to prey. after the shark attacks the pilot fish scavenges the scraps left by the shark. This is known as a symbiotic relationship. Or a relationship that benefits both participants.
