He's not. The Military has met or exceeded it's recruitment goals this year. And as long as you brought it up, recruitment was way up after 9/11. People stood on lines to recruit then, too.
Pearl Harbor was a different day and age when people didn't criticize the President on the war when troops were in the field. When the idiots in the press divulge classified secrets, they are making the troops jobs harder and subjecting them to greater risks. We should present a united front to the world. Unfortunately we don't, and I hear Bin Laden repeating the things that you and so many others gleefully post up here after hearing the Kennedy's, Kerry's, Pelosi's, and Murtha's spew the venom they have for the President. You just don't get it, and it really is a shame.

My father spent 3 years in Vietnam, in the 173rd Airborne. He became wounded two times and won a Bronze famous guy or woman and a Silver famous guy or woman. as quickly as I enlisted into the army my father advised me that have been Vietnam occurring then he could have been against my enlistment. to bypass into harms way upon ones own accord is one remember, to deliver your infant off to conflict is yet another. considering I easily have a infant i will extra desirable comprehend that concern and might additionally be very reluctant in deliver my infant into harms way. WW2 became a clean conflict, the rustic became attacked and that they have been protecting the united states, our u . s . a . and our way of existence from and obvious evil. In Vietnam they became evil all around, the south Vietnamese government became no extra desirable than the north they have been only not Communist. I do think of that the version in the wars performed a place into the alternative making technique.

You get to hide in your comfortable life and throw out pot shots. Until your family is murdered you will most likely have your fun. But perhaps in the next attack you will learn. You might then grow some balls and join the fight against an enemy who has sworn to destroy us...

People stood in line to avoid being drafted and placed in a branch of the military they would not have been happy with. American people were at their greatest back then. Now sadly America is filled with draft card burning liberals who would rather appease another country that to defend America.

World war two was caused by a direct attack on us at Pearl Harbor. The Iraqi war was started by a coke snorting, alcoholic with no morals for personal gain.

Have you checked military numbers. They have nearly doubled since Pres. Clinton left office. Take a look at any of the military web sites. Even the New York Times agrees with this.

That's a very good point. I believe congress actually declared war though, and instituted the draft.

That might explain some of those in line.

I wonder if Bush's ancestors dodged the draft as well in WWII.

They had a military that was capable of threatening US soil. Easy choice, I would have volunteered too.
