Get a external monitor like you would for a desktop pc and connect the connector into the blue 3 rows of pins on the back of the laptop.
It will make it act like a desktop.

There shouldnt be any settings to do cause I do it all the time with my Dell laptop. Plug it up and thats it no configuration necessary. Doesnt matter if you check the boxes off to disable the laptop monitor cause #1 it doesnt work anymore so its not gona matter or affect anything and #2 its not worth the extra work to go through thats really not needed. Unless the screen is showing some colors then go to display and disable it....or just keep the laptop lid shut and power wont be going to the laptop monitor.

connect an external monitor to it (prob. a vga or dvi port on side or back of computer), then after its booted, press the hotkey (prob. Function + some other key) a few times until the lappie sends the signal to the monitor. once you can get to your desktop, right click the desktop, go to properties, settings tab, and make it how you want (make sure to disable the laptop display by unchecking both its boxes, and checking both the boxes for the external monitor. have fun, and good luck.

Simply turn the computer on and plug in a vga monitor on the monitor port. You can the use the laptop's keyboard and pad or you can plug in a keyboard and/or mouse (note: i don't know much about your laptop but if it doesn't have a keyboard port (serial) you just need to use a usb keyboard or use a normal keyboard with an adapter.
