The other fish will just eat it--it's okay. You'll find a skeleton if you leave it in there too long.

Yeah, it could. Depending on what killed it - certain fungal infections cause the fish to release spores upon death, thus infecting the other fish in the tank.

Also, fish decomposition adds to ammonia and nitrite levels. Since your tank is so small, I'm sure your ammonia levels are already through the roof - this added ammonia will probably cause permanent damage to your living fish, if not kill him.

May I ask why you can't take the two minutes to take the fish out, wrap it in paper, and throw it in the trash tonight? Seriously, that's all it takes - two whole minutes, if that. There's no way you can sit there and say you don't have two minutes to spare to take care of this.

Don't flush the fish, either. Bury it or wrap it and toss it.

It sounds like the tank is too small for more than one fish to be living in, so i'm going to vote yes that it will hurt your other fish

I dont think it will make the other fishes sick because i once have a small pond and one fish died and i could only take it out the next day and nothing had happened with the other fishes.

You should always remove dead fish from a tank. Any micro organisms will move out of the body. Also the decay body will release ammonia, and nitrates.

in most cases it wont but if it had caught itch desease or any other bacteria related etc it can harm other fish , so when u tak ethe fish out i would recomend cleaning the tank or getting that no itch stuff or something just in case better be safe than sorry , if i see dead fish at a pet store i normally wont buy fish from that store , most places will remove the dead fish as soon as its brought to there attention or as soon as they notice it

No, I see dead fish in the fish tanks at our local pet store all the time...they don't take the dead ones out right away. They will be fine.

It shouldn't, if you don't have a filter, it'll just chill on the surface, if you have a filter, be careful. It might get sucked in and end up stuck in a chamber of the filter. Get it you earlier than later becuse eventually, the badder of the fish (makes it float) will deflate and it will eventually sink to the bottom.

You should be okay, the nitrifying bacteria will help to keep the decompostion from being a problem but be prepared to change 1/2 of the water tomorrow
