They had an 8 year history. Years ago he had been charged with aggravated rape, but after she got out of the hospital, she refused to "cooperate". Case dismissed. She took him back.
Then he smashed a bottle over her head. Again she refused to assist prosecutors, and the charges of aggravated battery and attempted manslaughter were dismissed. Again, when she recovered, she took him back in.
Yesterday, he was arrested again, this time on an attempted manslaughter charge. It was one of the most heinous crimes a person can commit; this time, he took her to a cane field, doused her in gasoline, and set her on fire. She managed to roll and put it out. But he didn't stop, and doused her again and set her ablaze,again!
The charge could get raised to murder, this time. She is in critical conditionin a burn unit. She may not make it.
What makes a woman return to psychopaths, and place their lives in such jeopardy?

We'll.... theres no simple answer to this. The only thing I can really say is...when you are involved in something illegal and wrong (in this case your hubby is), its hard to get out of it, because you are leaving with secrets to hold that you may or may not tell. In the case of domestic violence, you are leaving someone that not only dosn't want himself exposed, but he wants you under his control. She dosn't want to leave, because she knows he'll eventually find her or worse still...she has nowhere to go. She might even still "love" him or may have brainwashed to think she could never make it on her own and if she tried, he'd find her and that would be it. The justice system in domestic violence is very easy for the perpetrators...i think they really have to kill the spouse in order to be severly prosecuted. A lot of women know this and thats why they don't leave.
Seems sick and wrong, though, don't you think?...
So sorry to hear that story.

sometimes there are many reasons for this...now being that i've never been in a abusive relationship...it makes it hard for me to understand why they go back to such violence...but from what i know some women tend to go back to these men for these reasons....lack of resource....sometimes these men are in control of everything...their job is to break down ones self esteem so that she feels she can't make it without him...he has brain washed her in to thinking that no one else wants her....he won't even allow her to work because he is afraid he will lose her to someone much better then him...because he knows deep down inside he's a worthless no good @ss control freak that like's to prey on the weak...and thats not even the end of it these poor women are faced with so much more pain and agony they are victims...they are scared to death of their predators...so many women have lost their life...all because of leaving....kids are sometimes involved that makes it hard too he may threaten to take the kids from her...she may feel like if she do something she might put her and the kids life in jeopardy...so you see there are many reasons for this kinda behavior ...and i do understand where your coming from...but sometimes it's easy for us to say get out...and it's not that easy...my heart goes out to all who have endure such pain...hopefully they will get out and get help

i guess, the lady is blind (not in a literal manner that she is really blind).people said that when you fall in love, you became blinds to his faults /mistakes.and may be she has no other family to turn too or afraid ,.there are so many reason why such things happened.to find out the reason you have to really know the person itself.

Life is to short to waste time on people that dont care. "Love is blind and it will take over your mind." Love is pain, but not physical pain. NEVER stoop down to other peoples levels. Get out while you still have a chance.

she has a REALLY REALLY low self esteem. most part to him. he prolly made her feel as if she cant get anybody else but him and that hes doing HER a favor by being with her. shes just not right in the head. just like he's not.

thats something serious dude all i could say is that some ladies like when guys treat them like **** may be coz they think they cant get anyone else better then him. or some girls think its very manly to treat them like that i think its sick to raise ur hand on a lady
