Staying on top of your technical skills even though not in school

...and ...

giving your parents a quiet house for a while with no noise from practicing!

a) Dad and Mom get a break.
b) Absentee dads get stuck with the bill.
c) Nerdy type rule.
d) You have stinky toilets.
e) You enforced lights out
f) You eat at their time, not yours.
g) Guys will get to listen to gross jokes and farts into the night.
h) Girls will get anxiety attacks over what to where to the pool/dance.
i) It looks fab on your WHAT I Did on My Summer Vacation essay next fall.
j) Usually only 3 kids puke on their food per week.
k) You get to have more than one band clown or orchestra.
l) You'll help the instructors decide between a nervous breakdown and the big bucks of leading camp next year.
m) You run out of emergency snack food.
n) You spend all of your snack money.
o) You fall in serious "like", but never hear from them again except through Im.
p) You get to hear far the other guys have gotten on their dates and you get to hear how dreamy the other girls dates have been.
q) You get to mess up your notes in front of other great instrumentalists.
r) You get away from all other siblings.
s) You avoid Aunt Josephine's visit.
t) Your dad gets to go into hyper ventilation over your care of the instrument while you are there.
u) Most camps are usually 3 hours drive which means you can whine one last decent meal out of them.
v) When you return you can spend hours on the phone exagerrating what fun you had to your friends.
x) You can probably guilt trip your mom for sending you there and get a new cd or the dinner of your choice out of it.
y) You become a Certified Liar when you swear you will NEVER go back and begin planning for next year 2 days after you get home.
z) Why ask me - I only went to camp 4 years in a row~!
zz) PS I'm tone deaf

The opportunity to meet other musicians that have the same passion for music as you do! And maybe learn something new. I love going to band camp! And making new friends!

my daughter went (willingly!) many years to band camp. it gave her an edge over the other players that sat home and didn't practice. she learned new techniques, leadership and ended up being one of the drum majors.

You make new friends. You see things that you have never seen before. It all adds up to fun. These experiences will last a lifetime.
