A purine base, attached to a pentose sugar backbone and the three phosphate groups. Th macro-molecule class escapes my memory, for the moment. Back to here if I think of it, or perhaps someone else will know.

The 3 components of ATP:
- adenine: purine base
-3 phosphates
- sugar: ribose
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP)- gets its name from the adenine + the 3 phosphates. ATP can be classified with the nucleic acids, like DNA and RNA.
DNA:
- has 4 bases: purine bases-adenine & thymine; pyrimidine bases- guanine & cytosine
-1 phosphate
- sugar: deoxyribose
RNA:
- has 4 bases: purine bases- adenine & uracil; pyrimidine bases- cytosine & guanine
- 1 phosphate
- sugar: ribose

ATP has there components (a) adenine: it is purine group of compound. (b) ribose : it is pentose sugar (3) phosphate: three phosphate group are linked by phosphodiester bond.
ribose is linked with adenine and ribose is linked with phosphate.
ATP belongs to nucleotides macromolecular class.others in this class are CTP, TTP, GTP, dATP, dCTP, dGTP, dUTP. nucleotides are linked and form large chain called as nucleic acids(DNA and RNA)
