I'd like to know what's the deal between Boston and New York when it comes to baseball? I mean how did this start?

In addition to the Babe Ruth stuff, kids in Boston learn about Enos Slaughter scoring from 1st on a base hit in the 7th game in 1946, losing the playoff game to the Indians in 1948, losing a 1 game lead in the last series of the season to the Yankees in 1949, a drought until 1967 while the Yankees just kept winning, losing in 1967 in 7 games, losing in 1975 in 7 games, that horrible playoff game in 1978 with Bucky F. Dent's home run and Yaz's pop fly, losing so painfully in 1986, the drought until 2003, while the Yankees kept winning, Aaron F. Boone's home run in game 7 in 2003, until finally, sweet redemption in the form of the greatest choke in sports history in 2004. Did that help?

How did it start? It goes back to the Red Sox selling Babe Ruth to the Yankees. After that the Red Sox did not win another World Series until 2004, and it was often the Yankees who ended their season.

First your talking about two of the oldest on going base ball franchises in the nation, they have always been rivals, but as the others stated it was spurned on when Boston sold Ruth to the Yankees and began a long running streak of no win titles, this was known as the Curse of the Bambino, which Boston blames on the Yanks.

It all started when the Red Sox owner traded Babe Ruth to the Yankees for $200,000, so he could produce the show No No Nanette. Since then, the Yanks have won 27 titles, while the Sox have won one.

ah anahi, somewhat dissatisfied your bum of a crew Yankees are not doing too warm this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days? in case you make investments contained in the Kleenex tissue company...you could do nicely (for you'd be their best customer). yet heavily....the yank / pink Sox competition has continually been a large hit , particulary at the same time as the pink Sox torched the Yankees contained in the playoffs many years again. (seems as if the Rex Sox are on their way again! flow pink Sox!)

Well, Boston sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees. That's technically when it all started.

They've been bickering ever since.

According to ESPN they are the only two teams in the major leagues. They don't seem to care much about televising other games.
