My computer has been hanging recently, so I decided to run a Spybot Search and Destroy scan on it. When I do, the file that it's scanning is displayed in the bottom left hand corner of the program. I can see that it's spyware (Files titled everything from "Tango" to "Keylogger" to "TeenXXX"), but Spybot doesn't recognize them as problems, and I can't find them on my drive to delete them (the paths to the files are not displayed by Spybot, and, even if they were, I suspect that such files are cleverly hidden by their creators to make accessing them difficult).

So, basically, I can see that the files have no place on my computer, but Spybot glosses right over them. Any idea how I can find and remove them?

No, no, the words you see flying by are the items for which Spybot is examining your computer -- you see Tango, and that means it is currently looking for Tango. If it finds Tango, then it will list Tango for deletion when the scan is complete...

Download Adaware SE to remove the spyware that spybot cant. Thats why I hate Spybot Search and Destroy crap. Alot of people say it works......if you have dealt with alot of spyware spybot doesnt work that accurately.

Not all the spyware files are hidden. They can have a name that you would think its legit but isnt. Also the real bad ones are the ones that each time you reboot the computer and run Adaware and it gives you a different file that will be removed on reboot.....means you got some spyware that is embedding itself in system files and moves to a different file each reboot and is almost impossible to find. <<
