That is going to depend on what kind of job you have. If you have to be on your feet a lot, or if you have to do anything physical you are most likely going to need about a week before resuming work. Do you have to work around a lot of people? You have to remember that if you start hurting you are going to be acting a little strange. Are you going to want to explain your hunched-over walk to the girls at the office? Or even worse the guys.
But the most important thing is to keep it clean and prevent any infection. Can you tend to it properly while at work?
Then the friction against your clothing will take some getting used to, I have been working on that for 50 years and I might make it in another 50.
I wish you luck and a speedy recovery. I can not imagine allowing someone to do that, I was cut at the age of six, and was not really given much choice in the matter.
You will notice that most females seem to think this is no big deal, you should be able to have it done over your lunch hour and be back to work by 1pm. They have no idea how many nerves are cut, how much damage has been done. This is the same cavalier attitude they show if they ever have a son. They send them of with a nurse to be cut, and then wonder why it is that boys are always so slow to learn to nurse, and always seem to lag behind in development.
Of the industrialized nations the United States circumcises the highest percentage of its infant boys.
Of the industrialized nations the United States has the highest infant mortality rate. Coincidence???

Don't worry about work. The question should be how long should it be before I have sex!
P.S. (sex: about 3 to 4 weeks)

I would say as long as the pain keeps you from being able to work. There isn't really much physical reason not to work at most jobs.

um .. your doctor should have told you that, Bob.
unless you do some kind of job that you use your penis ... i'm thinking that the surgery shouldn't interfere with the performing of your job duties.
