I want to be cremated... because 1) I'm paranoid about getting buried alive, 2) I don't like the thought of my body rotting and 3) my ashes can be spread somewhere pretty, not buried in the cold dirt, 6' under with the worms O_o

I'll be cremated because it's more environmentally friendly and cost effective.

I don't think you can accidentally be burried alive anymore. I think the enbalming fluid will kill you.

I would prefer being burried if I were murdered. That's so my body could be checked forensically if need be to catch the person who killed me.

If I die a natural death, then creamation sounds good, but only after the enbalming fluid part is done. I wouldn't want to be burned alive.

And, incidentally, it's a comfy seventy something degrees six feet under. It's above ground where it can get really hot or really cold. As for rotting; well, that happens both above and bellow ground, so if that's an issue with you, then creamation is probably the way to go. Unless, like me, you want to help the law to catch the person who killed you if that's how you died.

Incidentally, do you believe in reincarnation? If so, maybe your fears go back to an earlier life where you were buried alive. Also, are you clostrophobic? I am and I worry about being burried alive. I remember a true story on cable TV about an old guy being locked in a refrigerator and placed in a storage locker someplace in Florida. The frig had a few small holes in it for air, but it was covered with a blanket, and the guy died from the unbearable heat. Someone had kidnapped him and placed him there while trying to get ransom. What a terrible way to go. I, at one time, considered retiring to Florida, but can't do it now because of that story.

I think its different for everyone. I personally would like to be buried. Not that the idea of rotting is appealing, but neither is that of burning. I just want to have a burial site where anyone can come to and pay their respects if they ever feel the need.

I want to be cremated for all of your reasons but also for the fact that, eventually there will be no more room for the dead in the ground so why should I take up space that someone else might really want.
Burn me!

I want to be organically buried in a bio-degradable coffin so that I will go back to the earth as bodies are intended, and I want a tree planted on my grave so that I will,in a sense,be recycled into the tree and continue on in that way.I just can't decide whether to be a flowering tree or a strong oak.
(probably oak since I'm nuts already...)

I want to be cremated. It's kind of a family tradition and I can have my ashes in a place that has meaning to me, not a cemetery that I rarely even set foot in.

I'd actually like to rot. Not in a casket, but just like buried under a tree.
