Programs are not installed on RAM. RAM will only be affected if you try to run both Sims 1 and Sims 2 at the same time or multiple programs at the same time. Sometimes you may find programs starting up or running very slowly. If the cases apply, you will need to get more RAM.

However if you get an error such as "Insufficient disk space" while installing Sims 2, it means you need to get a larger harddisk space. Or you could try uninstalling Sims 1 to free up some harddisk space.

Uninstalling a program will not free up RAM, just hard drive space. So unless you just don't want to play The Sims 1, then leave it. If you want to play the Sims 2, you'll need to add more RAM. I have no idea whether you can have both installed at the same time. I would think so though.

I do agree with André C. You'll probably upgrade your RAM and then your video card wont be good enough. Check out this web site for the system requirements:

If you want to uninstall Sims 1 then by all means uninstall it. But if the Sims 2 requires more RAM, then uninstalling Sims 1 will not help you, unfortunatelly. You should look into options that your computer vendor has for upgrading the RAM memory in your system. (or ask a friend who knows about these things... :) )

Good luck

I dont think that will be necesary. When you install a game, if it is not running right now, it is not using RAM, (only disk space), so if you are not running sims1 now, and it tells you that there is not enough RAM, my friend, you will need to buy more RAM.

I suggest you not to play sims2, because its a very heavy game, and probably if you get more RAM, you will keep having troubles because of the video card or somethin else.
Sims 2 is a game unable to run with old comps.

Uninstall the Sims 1, because trust me, once you play the Sims 2, you wont even fart on the Sims 1.

RAM or Harddisk that you mean???
RAM is the memory that you see by right click on mycomputer icon, an choose properties..harddisk is your drive.. c:, d:, etc..
if your problem is on RAM you need to upgrade the RAM, uninstall the other programs or games won't help anything..but if your problem is the harddisk, it can help a little but still i suggest you add your harddrive so you will have more space...

It won't help. Trust me.

I just dumped 1000 dollars into a new computer because my old one (Which I adored), with Windows 98 SE on it became obsolete.

You're GOING to have to upgrade. There's no way around it.
