First to mind is Billy Sheehan, because he sometimes uses similar techniques. Also, if you're interested in slap bass, there is Larry Graham, inventer of Slap style, bassist for Sly and the Family Stone; and Victor Wooten, who has taken a variety of bass rechniques and evolved them (truly amazing).
