For one thing the Philippines is still a country that is very poor economically so birth control could be expensive and therefore unobtainable. Second and probably most important the Philippines are predominently Catholic in their religion and beliefs. Though the young are devote they are also rebellious and experiment. I personally know of some girls that were required to marry their rapists to keep face for their families.

I'm pretty sure sex is the leading cause of pregnancy, teenage or otherwise, worldwide.

the cause of teenage pregnancy is because no one bothered to tell them about birth control. It is the same reason that kids are getting pregnant in the US because kids today have to much free time on their hands and their parents can not control their kids they way they did when I was growing up.
