'92 ford tempo. Was told it was the starter. replaced that and it still just clicks 1 time. so i tried to take solenoid off because that is where it actually sounds like the click is coming from. I can not get the wires off that have clips holding them on. HELP!!! Yes, I am a so called Dumb Blonde!!!! lol

you are very currect in thinking the starter solenoid is bad because that is what it is, the two wires in ? shouldn't be to hard to get off try using somthing to loosen them up with, when you get ready to put the new one on make sure that you put the wires back to the same spot, the new one will come with directions.

I assume you are talking about the starter relay on the firewall. It sounds like it is working if it is clicking. I would check to make sure you have a good ontact with the battery and that the battery is in good shape. If in doubt replace the battery since winter is coming up. 9 times out of ten when I repair a vehicle like this it is the battery or connections especially if you those aftermarket bolt on terminal ends on the cables. Fords use more power than any car to make the starter work and it the battery is weak it will just click. We have some good techs at the group below that can help also.

What kind of car? Is the solenoid or the starter relay? Makes a great deal of difference.
