What do you think about the prequels (house corrino, house atreides and the butlerian jihad series) written by Frank herberts son? I think that he is destroying frank herbert's legacy. Brian is a lousy writer

They are incredibly bad compared to the old man. Talk about a son just cashing in on the father's achievements. Hopefully no one will actually consider them part of Frank Herbert's legacy.

What I hate most about them is the very mechanical way the plot runs from place to place. It's so obvious that they co-wrote them 1000 miles apart, split up their parts of the story, then scattered them in chapters designed to keep us reading. Bad, bad, bad.

I read somewhere that Brian Herbert had written prequels to the Dune series (I occasionally look up things that remind me of my childhood). The reviewer seemed to agree with you re: Brian sucks.

an apprehension I as quickly as shared earlier analyzing the prequels. universal i don't think of he tainted the works of his father... how would desire to you "taint" a paintings like Dune ;-) there are naturally extensive adjustments interior the form of prose between father and son. yet i for my area cherished analyzing the historic previous of how the Fremen got here to reach on Dune, besides as extra "modern-day" historic previous including what brought about the Honered Matres to flee and so on. and that i cherished the linking of a few factors of the historic previous suich as countless the statements made by potential of Leto (because of the fact the God Emperor) re Norma Cenva and so on. I do have self assurance that the prequel works have been in line with notes and outlines that his father left in the back of whilst he died. i'm re-analyzing the completed sequence now and am virtually to alter from the pre-Frank books to the unique FH sequence... looking forward to seeing how Dune 7 ended up!

I haven't read them, but it seems like a disrespect to a highly respectable series. It's never good when family members try to cash in on another family members success.
