Pour a good cup of baking soda in and then pour vinegar over it and watch it bubble.
Also clean on the underside of the gasket. This area can get slimy and create odor.

Here is what I do with mine. If it starts to smell take the splash guard out and wash in hot soapy water. You'll be surprised how much slim there is. Citrus peeling give a nice scent. Once a week or so grind up a tray of ice cubes. You can dump a box of baking soda down and flush with lots of cold water. Always run your water for a minute after you shut the disposal off to help finish flushing everything away.

Mix up 1/4 cup of bleach (Clorox) with 1 cup of water. Pour that down the drain and wait about 10 minutes. Then put 3-4 ice cubes down and grind them up. That should do the trick! The odor is probably caused by bacteria from some nasty food down in there, and the bleach will get rid of the bacteria instead of just covering up the gross smell (like the lemon or baking soda ideas). Happy cleaning!

Try cutting up a lemon into large pieces and running it through your disposal with some ice.
You may need to take your disposal apart and clean it if it is not chopping food up fine enough to go down the drain it will just sit in the resevoir and smell up the place.

I had this problem and what I did is I got out my biggest pot out and filled it with water and boiled it, I pour bleach down it while the water was on the stove. When the water was boiling I poured it down the sink. It worked...
I done the lemon thing before but the smell comes back and if you send the hottest water down every now and then you wont have the problem... Good luck

Don't use citrus or bleach. It may damage seals.
Best way is to get icecubes and grind them up. That will clean out al debris that is causing the smell. So ice cubes, rinse with water.
good luck

run some ice and baking soda in it. That will help clean the residue from the blades. If the still is an odor, run lemon peels though it
