I remember a TV movie set in Sheffield (about mid-eighties I believe) called "The Day After" about a nuclear strike on the city. Very shocking and thought provoking.

Like, all about disaster and no human villain in particular?
I'd say war of the worlds, but I don't like disaster movies much. I prefer good war action or some real humor in the deaths at least.

"Towering Inferno" is without a doubt the best dissaster movie. It's got it all, action, suspense, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen and a big burning tower block with poor health and safety regs. Classic!

The Day After, it was on ABC many years ago. There was a recent one on NBC NETWORK ABOUT THE BIG EARTHQUAKE. I can't get the title.
