Nordstrom is a very upmarket store, and the help must speak properly, be familiar with upper-middle class norms, shopping habits, etc. No lower-class help, thank you. Family income matters since it reveals whether you have that background to deal with their customers! You do not have to answer their question, of course. But the snarky answers here reveal a lack of awareness of upper-middle class mores, customs, and especially customer relations. Class-envy is not a suitable qualification for customer service & sales positions dealing with an upmarket clientele!
