My worst birthday was September 28, 2006. I'm ususally not into celebrating my birthday because up until the past year I have felt appreciated all year round. This past year though, I have felt like my family has been taking me for granted so I made it a point to let everyone know I would like to celebrate it this year, with subtle hints of course such as: "I am really looking forward to my birthday this year" and so on. Well, I received a couple of presents, which were nice, don't get me wrong, and my boys made some homemade bday cards but these were all just physical gestures that I more or less had drop more hints about. What I had really wanted all along was just one day where I would feel appreciated, one day where instead of me having to keep the house spotless they did, instead of me waking everyone for school and getting them together they could manage it w/o me and get along while doing so, and maybe even have a birthday cake made in my honor.

I know it sounds like I was expecting a great deal, but I do all of these things (except for the bday cake) on a daily basis.
Instead I had a few gifts handed to me, my kids gave me a hard time in the morning, they almost missed the bus, I was almost late for class, spent my lunch time (2hrs) alone because my fiance was too busy shooting bow/arrow with his buddies/brother, when I got home from class I had to drive to walmart/boscov's for supplies (none of which for me, wait I lie, I bought deoderant), the jeep breaks down in walmart parking lot, we are stranded, and I get told I can't buy my son's scout uniform at boscov's because we have to repair the jeep but heaven forbid he give up cigarettes. When were finally able to get home (we had to have the jeep towed at a nice little cost of $100) I decide to try and install my present, a sims game, and for some reason am still unable to do so due to an error in the system.
So my birthday sucked big time.

My 19th. I had to work that morning. It was a Sundy and i worked at the methodist chruch in their daycare. My cousin worked with me. When I was leaving for work my grandparents, who I lived with, said nothing to me about it being my birthday. After work I had to drop my cousin off at home. She wanted me to come in because she was sure that her mom had a gift for me and would want to say Happy Birthday. It turned out her parents weren't even home. I went home where my grandparents continued to neglect the fact that it was my birthday. I waited around, figuring my mom and dad would call (they lived in Germany) to tell my Happy Birthday. They never called. I went the entire day with no "happy birthday" no presents, nothing. Then that evening I went with my other cousin to her friend's birthday party. I had gotten a gift for this girl, who had hung out with that entire summer before. When she went to open my gift she read allowed "from Amy" because her mom was taking notes on who got her what. This girls says "who is Amy?" I was so embarrassed and my feelings were hurt. I took the time to get her a gift and she doesn't even realize i'm at her party and is like "whos Amy?"

It was the worst birthday ever. I cried myself to sleep that night. A few days later my family suddenly decided to take me to dinner to make up for it. It was too late though. I knew where I stood.
