I am a female and I L O V E metal. I am a headbanger from way back. I grew up in the 80's but I wasn't into to the girlie, glam, hair bands. I was mostly into Thrash, Speed, Death, Black Metal. Always the only girl in the pit. You should check out my launchcast radio station (janettmarr). Death to all posers.

I think a lot of women still seek to be accepted by society, more so than males. Metal, being the "black sheep" of music that it seems to be, is not accepted as much as other genres like pop and rap, therefore they stay away from it. Metal is definitely a male dominated genre, and I think a lot of women are probably also intimidated by that fact alone.
I just pretend to understand why there aren't more chick metalheads out there. All I know is that I love it!

i love heavy metal. i'm also not your typical women. i don't like shopping, i love sports and hate gossip. oh, and i could actually drive well. sorry, i know that's a sexist remark against my own kind, but some stereotypes are true. and for your smart a$$'s out there, i am not a dyke. i am married (to a man) and i am feminine. so in answer to your question, i don't know why more women love heavy metal.

uhhhh....I'm thinkin cuz most women are not into the "death and destruction" aspects. I said most, not all.
You don't see Metallica signing about the surise or flowers very often. Unless it's the last sunrise of all time and the flowers are being trampled by the harbringer of death.

I think metal is more geared toward males, so that's probably why. I think it might be a little too agressive for them to handle.

My wife digs it. We've seen Ozzy, KISS, and Black Label Society, just to name a few...She's had a blast every time!
