Actually the Trojan war started because Helen was taken from Menelaos. Three goddesses Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera asked Paris which one of them was the fairest. They all offered him something to entice him to choose one over the other. Aphrodite offered the fairest woman in the world and so Paris picked her. Helen was that woman...and came into the possession of Paris when he was visiting the area. Menelaos then gets ticked and the Trojan war begins.

Like everyone said. I don't believe Atreus' curse started the Trojan war.

i think it was after the trojan war atreus was cursed,when agamemnon's wife killed him.the war started because the prince of troy took the king of sparta's wife...
