First of all, congrats on the pregnancy!! lad to hear you called the doctor. Is it pre eclampsia?? Shoot...I forget what exactly it is, but sudedn swelling of the face, hands, etc. is a sign of a serious condition in pregnancy. My doc gave me a card stating a few things I need to watch for, and that was one of them. Generally, if you put your feet up, the swelling will go down a bit with *normal* swelling. Oh...and just so you know, I'm not a newbie at this or anything. I am currently pregnant with my 9th pregnancy (but only 4 children with me and one in heaven and the current one growing). :-) Maybe even call the hospital tonight to see what they think......just as a precaution...not to freak you out!!! I'm high risk, so I worry about others when I know they have signs of serious things...
Feel free if you like to let me know what you find out!! Now go put your feet back up, ring up the hospital, and just check. Better safe than sorry hun!!

I was in a similar situation when i was 5 months pregnant. I went to podiatrist because my left foot was swollen from both sides and when i stood up it felt like my ankle and foot were going to seperate. It hurt so bad. The podiatrist keep it wrapped and ordered me to stay on bedrest for a while. He also gave me a surgical shoe that helped. I suggest going to a podiatrist for treatment and letting them bandage u up. If they do remember to stay off your feet and keep it elevated. It will go away soon

Well swelling is normal in late pregnancy but you should go to your doctor because extreme swelling is a sign of pre-clamsia. (not sure how to spell it) But I've heard that this is really dangerous and if you have high blood pressure and is really high you can get a stroke. So if I were you I would check my blood pressure just to be safe. I'm pretty sure that it's normal pregnancy swelling but you should call your doctor!

Inform your doctor because sudden swelling is a definite sign of preeclampsia. Some other symptoms are changes in vision and nausea or vomiting. If untreated it could be very dangerous to you and your baby so get checked ASAP! Good Luck!!!!

It's VERY NORMAL!!! Girrrlll, I wish you coulda seen me at that stage! LMAO! Its called edema and it can be relieved a little by cutting salty stuff out of your diet and drinking more water...also elevate your feet wiith some pillows when you get home and it'll help a little...but when you get up in the morn-it may return...don't worry-you're about to pop any day now...LOL!

Sounds like a bit (or lot) of water retention. Try cutting out salt and pee some of that water out of your system. Still best to consult your GP don't try home remedies. It's way better for you and your baby rely on medical care to get you through.

try to relax. The swelling can be normal as long as you don't have high blood pressure (PIH-pregnancy induced hypertension) and protein in your urine. This combo is called pre-eclampsia. I don't want to scare you as you could just simply be swollen.
