I will save others some work by posting the gist of it here:
Yahoo! Answers is a community-driven service that allows users to ask and answer questions posed by other users, in the style of answers.com and Google Answers; but the two main differences with this service is that the usage is free of charge and Yahoo! doesn't care about the customer, they let people do what they want and let them do what they like, including getting other members suspended. In order to ask a question or to answer one, one has to have a Yahoo! account.
This Yahoo! service has been unpopular among many Yahoo! users. Members may ask virtually any question and are reported by other users with nothing better to do. To encourage good answers, Yahoo! Answers occasionally features helpful participants on its Yahoo! 360° blog page, but don't make it too good otherwise, jealous users will report you and you may be suspended.
Yeah, it does seem a little hissy.

I have pasted the LINK and a part of the story from Wikipedia in an answer. (I try to show a part of the actual story, and not just the link). Like this:
About Wikipedia

I totally understand what you mean. This is suppost to be a great place to ask people REAL questions that you can't really google. But many people took advantage of it and ask stupid questions like "Do you think ___ (name of a politician) came from mars?" Or give stupid answers like "I don't know, man." They just don't have anywhere else to express their opinions.

I just read it, and I guess I don't care what it says. I have found some good answers and always leave good answers (unless the question doesn't deserve one).
