Somewhere in your drain plumbing there should be a PLUG that unscrews, for the purpose of clean out. The cap may be a 4 inch PVC threaded piece that can be removed with a crescent wrench. If that won't help then you might try removing the toilet and snaking its immediate drain plumbing. If that doesn't help, you might try calling a plumber.
Not having any detail about your home, it's hard to know all the possibilities, but another might be collapsed sewage drain plumbing,,, Tree root intrusion, etc.

Get a plumber out now before it gets worse. The water coming up isn't clean even if it looks OK. The shower and toilet share the same drain, you risk spreading bacteria. Not good with 3 kids around.
Sounds like maybe something is stuck farther down the system that's causing the slow drain. (maybe a toy?) A plumber can help tell you that.

there is no way to answer this question. Are you on a septic system or sewer ? is this on the first floor or second. How quickly does the water run away after wards.
Could be as simple as putting a snake ( a metal one that is ) trough the toilet, or it could be a backup of the septic system, in which case you may have to turn the valve of the filed in use.
good luck

Is it a new house or old house? Could tree roots be the problem?
Is it a 2 story house? There are books in the library on plumbing and venting you could trouble shoot some with a book. Is your laundry on the same line to the sewer? If a vent is clogged it creates a vaccume and one has to offset the other... need more information.

You need a plumber quick. That happened at my house before I think your main drain to the sewer is clogged.

Please spend the money for a roto router. We ended up spending over $2000 bucks to replace a bathroom after our main sewer line backed up. It started out as a little problem like yours first. Dont wait.

You are going to have to run a "snake" down through it to remove the clog. You will be able to find one pretty cheap at Home Depot.

sounds like you need to rod the main drain. If you have trees around, maybe the roots have gotten to your sewer system.
