if you have time shoot 'em with a BB gun, or get a dog like us...those squirrels don't come near the house now.

what you might want to do is trap cats. the wild feral kind. then take them to the humane society and get them fixed for about $30 and get their rabies $5. after that when you pick them up they'll be pretty groggy. have the vet place them in a large kennel. large enough for a little litter box. after you take them home let the cat live in the kennel outside for a few days. the purpose of fixing the cat is just for peace of mind that your yard "keeper" wont be having babies anytime soon. anyway after two or three days of recovery just open the door to the kennel and go about your business. leave PLENTY OF tuna, NOT cat food. you MUST tempt them to stay. then you have an official yard keeper. this cat will live in your back yard and come to eat and at the same time because he or she is feral it will either kill the squirrels or chase them off. i just think trapping squirrels is useless. i mean what are you going to do with a trapped squirrel!?!? and this way you've done something humane to a wild cat and you have your yard protected from rats, possums, squirrels, whatever. GOOD LUCK!

My fellow questioner for those who say get a dog , they are likely people who do not own a dog!! For if u get a dog u wil have to install an underground pool..(get the drift) Usually a squirrel lives uphigh and looks for food on the ground buuut, put some food hanging on the trees surrounding your yard and they will not half to go far to hide them. If not well choose a neighbor you do not like "right" or "left" and throw all the peanuts u can for a week solves the problem but not a neighbourly tactic!!!! good luck!!

I buy cheep cayenne pepper from a dollar store, sprinkle my walk ways and gates, pretty much the path that the cats or squirrels take, They don't like it, it messes with their sharp sense of smell and they don't come back for about 3 weeks, so I do it about once a month for awhile and they find somewhere else to hang out.

I can't be sure but i suggest you try to distract them to a different place. like take a food that they like (some type of nut maybe) and bring them over to a different area that is away from your yard. if they don't come immediately try to make a track of nuts or something out of your yard. You could also try to ask someone who is an expert on animals and get their expert opinion on why they are digging up in your yard. from there you can can try to find another way to get them out. if all else fails try the sprinkler idea. sounds like it could stem them from your yard for part of the time. this is just me typing my mind.

Irish Spring soap hung out in the yard inside of pantyhose will drive them away
you may need a lot depending on the size of your yard.
I read about this for gardens in the farmers almanac and it really works.

Benjamin Sheridan 10 pump pellet gun with pointed hunting pellets. Little bastards will never know what hit em. Screw the traps. They are rats with bushy tails for crying out loud.
Sorry to any of you PETA people. You can give thumbs down if I have offended you. It won't bother me.

I am not sure but I do know that my grandmother used to put mothballs around the outside of her house to keep skunks away, so the same things might work
