the average person's lip piercing will heal in 6-8 weeks. This does not mean your's won't heal faster or slower. The healing process depends on many things from the way your piercing was done, how you care for it, to what you use to clean it.
I have a labret (basically the same piercing) and used a listering diluted with 50% water solution to clean the inside of my mouth ANY time anything entered my mouth besides purified water for 2 weeks. You also have to clean the outside of the piercing. For this, I suggest saline solution(contact drops). The easiest way I found was to wet a cotton ball and to hold it on the piercing for 30-45 seconds and then to turn the piercing just once (after washing your hands) to allow the solution to get into the area.
I know it will be hard, but try not to play with your piercing while it's healing. The more it's moved the slower it will heal.
Good luck and take care of all your piercings!
p.s. with good care, my labret only took 4 weeks to completly heal.

It all depends on the person, how you care for it, your ability to follow directions, and specific placement of the piercing. You need to make sure that the person doing the piercing knows what they are doing. Depending on where on the lip you are getting pierced, there are blood vessels that have the potential of being pierced during the initial process. If a vessel is damaged, the healing process could take months with help from antibiotics, may never heal causing permenant damage, but all may go well with the initial process. Which "LIP" are you planning on piercing? Are you wanting a labret piercing, a beauty mark or are we talking about a Labia (vaginal) piercing?

There is really no right answer to it. The average time is 6-8 weeks, but depending on your aftercare, the way it was pierced, and just the way your body heals in general can cause it to take less or more time than this. Your body is unlike anyone else, so I can't really give you a definite time of how long it would take. Personally, I've had mine for about 3 months now, and its just about finished healing.

My friend's lip took 5.5 weeks, but I think her condition was worser than it should have been.

Personally, I don't believe in lip piercing. The fursthest you should go is to the nose! :)
