GHETTO LIFE

I walk in my old neighborhood,
and see the same people up to no good.
They really have lost their way,
and tomorrows are just another day.
They are going nowhere and are going there fast.
Everyday they wake-up might be their last.
A girl sits on the curb and she looks so sad.
She is angry at herself and this makes her mad.
She won't put down the pipe and has no life.
She spends her days in misery and strife.
She asks for change for another beer.
All the while living, trying to cover her fear.
Inside I know that all they do is cry.
BECAUSE WHO WANTS TO LIVE, WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO DIE!

yes, i wrote it. and i could have put a HAPPY ending to it; but, that wasn't the jest of this poem ~ because there isn't always a happy-ending statistically...thanks for the comments.

I do stand corrected. This can happen anywhere ~ I didn't mean to generalize. It was just my truths.

WOW! that was really great! I liked it. Really amazing talent. Would I be able to post this, but have you credited?
I also live in Los Angeles and know where you're coming from.
But just the name should probably be changed because its not only ghetto people, but the poem was really amazing!

Good poem.
Bad life.

Why don't you write another poem saying why in the world do they do it? Is it their bad parents? Is it the mean kids at school?
Is it their 'poorness'?
What in the world makes life's winners
become life's losers?
It is so sad. Such a waste.

Anyway I like your poem, and bless you for being smart enough not to join them. You are still a winner in life! Things can only get better and better for you!!!

not all stories have a happy ending so it is good that you didnt give this one a happy ending. overall the poem is great. i really like it. when i was reading it, i felt like i could really feel how this person was feeling and that is important when writting a story or poem. keep up the good work :)

to tell you the truth, i skimmed the poem, just read a line or two, but because you wrote the last sentence in upper case i read the whole thing. and it struck a cord in me. i lkied it, but i think you should rephrase the title, make it mysterious, so that when someone reads it, they'll wonder what you are writing about.

very real. poetry is like any art and like is subject to the reader's opinion. You poem has structure, purpose and resonates an honest observance of your environment.

Very nice. One's surroundings are usually the best place to get inspiration. Very negative though? Dont you think?
