Well if you can hear a heartbeat and you know that the baby is ok then theres no point because a couple weeks later your going to have a baby weather you like it or not and a sonography isnt going to stop anything. It would only let you see the baby sooner and it wont harm anything either! By the way Congrats!

Of course, have the ultrasound. Why wouldn't you? They will measure the baby to see if it falls within the normal parameters and possibly notice any other potential problems. Being a little off on the time of conception can explain the difference in measurement of her belly. Nobody can tell you if there is a problem at this point until further investigation. listen to your doc.

I agree wholeheartedly with the rhetorical question, "Why wouldn't you?" Sonograms are reportedly safe procedures. I myself have had umpteen of them with four kids, two of which were twins (they do them very regularly with multiples). If, on the off chance, there was some problem occurring with the baby and/or his/her development, you would want to know ASAP wouldn't you? So you could address the problem? It doesn't have to be an issue about the baby, per se. It could be something like amniotic fluid level or something like that... still very important to baby's welfare. Why are you second-guessing the doctor? For heaven's sake, do the ultrasound.

well it's hard to say, i had 4 ultrasounds done through all 3 of my pregnancys, sometimes age, and weight gain, and other things can be a factor...i wouldn't turn down any medical options during a pregnancys, it's to important to keep track of the health of the little one.

some doctors do sonograms as part of the pregnancy routine. if you are uncomfortable with it, tell the doctor. ask why it is needed. find out exactly why he wants to do one, and decide from there. it's your baby, it's your choice. it's a safe procedure, and not something to worry about, but still, your choice.

YES! THE DOC PROBABLY WANTS TO CHECK FETAL GROWTH, PLACENTA LOCATION AND PRESENTATION OF THE FETUS. DURING THE COURSE OF A PREGNANCY GROWTH RETARDATION, PLACENTA PREVIA, AND BREECH PRESENTATION CAN OCCUR. THE SONOGRAM IS SAFE FOR YOUR WIFE AND UNBORN BABY. I SHOULD KNOW, I'M A SONOGRAPHER.....
